Posted: December 27, 2017 |
UPI and UPI money transfer apps have permanently changed the way we make payments here in India. Slowly and steadily, it has taken over the economy replacing all other digital options like debit/credit card, net banking, and cash as well. But not all apps are good, and all are bad. In this post let me introduce you to the 10 UPI apps of today and given a good comparison between all of them. It’s up to you to choose which one you want to install and use.
BHIM UPI App The best online money transfer app I would say. The first UPI app ever made and still going strong. This app is developed and released by NPCI and is perhaps the simplest to use and the fastest on app store. With a minimalistic design and simple approach, it is designed in a way such that you can access its services with just a single tap of the button. User experience is great, and it has all the features that there should be in a UPI app which includes sending and requesting money, checking balance, changing PINs etc. You have the option to send the money using VPA or QR code and mobile number as well of the beneficiary. Recently, it has also included IFSC and account number method. PhonePe App PhonePe is not only a UPI app but it’s also a mobile wallet. It has all UPI and wallet features for both user types. The interface looks great and can definitely be stated as one of the nicest looking UPI payment app out there. The app works well even on slow connections. You have the ability to check your bank balance and you can send money using a mobile number as well. You just have to make sure that the beneficiary is registered with UPI. CU App This app is superb when you need the right balance of basically everything and every feature which you require from a payment app. First of its kind, this app does more than just UPI payment, it has shopping and communication feature as well. No personal information is required from the user for using any of its feature. It's in formal partnership with Yes Bank and UPI support is extended by 60 more banks. It has both QR code & VPA based payment options, supports multiple bank accounts and user can make both online and offline payments to merchants. The most important thing being this app never charges you for any transactions done through it. Very fast app with 3-steps towards transaction completion. SBI Pay A standalone UPI app of SBI (State Bank Of India), the app is as secure as it gets and is quite easy to use. With great user interface, transactions can be completed in 3-4 steps. All of the important options can be accessed very quickly and are on the main screen of the app like change PIN, balance inquiry, sending and requesting money. The only drawback I felt was the app’s workability in terms of speed. This was a problem back when it started, and it has been a problem ever since. They should really improve things on this front. Takes around more than a minute just to log in even on a 4G network sometimes which is just not acceptable by users. Axis Pay This is a great app by AXIS Bank. I have yet to see a crystal-clear UI better than Axis Pay. The closest I believe was of CUApp. The app’s home-screen displays two options, sending and requesting money. Rest of the options are cleverly placed in the side navigation. This app uses a 6-digit password. App is fast but lacks minimum number of steps in completing a transaction.
These are the best UPI apps out there right now contributing to the digital India campaign. You can install any one of these apps and can forget about cash & debit/credit card payments. All of them are great but if you are looking for a great balance in everything from speed of the app to its feature-wise usability, according to majority users, CUApp is your best bet. You can however choose which is the best UPI payment app for you.
