The Need to Make Traffic System Adaptive and Advanced |
Posted: August 20, 2019 |
Everything needs to get advanced with time and the same is with the traffic system. There used to be ordinary traffic lights initially at the crossings with three (red, green, and yellow) lights. These lights used to light one after another at regular intervals. They were working fine till the traffic was moderate but, when it exceeded, these lights seemed to be ineffective. So, there was the necessity of Adaptive Traffic Control System. Adaptive Traffic Control System Adaptive Traffic Control System or ATCS means adapting to the flow of traffic. It helped to save time and lowered the number of rear-end collisions. ATCS consists of the microcontroller which is a small computer on a single IC with memory, processor core, and programmable input/output peripherals. These are designed for embedded applications in place of the microprocessors used in PCs. Drawbacks of Ordinary Traffic Lights
Benefits of Adaptive Traffic Control System
Wrapping It All Up Ultimately it saves time and fuel while saving the environment from greenhouse gases. One of the major advantages of Adaptive Traffic Control System is its low cost and it can be easily implemented at the junctions. It also saves the cost of employing traffic police to lead the traffic at a junction while saving him from pollution hazards.
