India import data shows India imported commodities worth 389.18 billion USD in the financial year 2020-21. In the last financial month of the year imports reached a high 34.45 billion USD. The lowest imports were recorded in April 2020 with India importing goods worth 17.12 billion USD. The imports in March 2021 showed an impressive jump of 53.74% compared to imports in March 2020 (21.49 billion USD). But imports fell by 18.02% in 2020-21 due to the pandemic and fall in demand.

As per import data of Kolkata, the Kolkata port contributes 90% of the revenue earned by Kolkata customs. It handled 10% of the cargo handled by India from April 2020 to November 2020.
