The Gujarat state is housing India’s four national parks and twenty-one wildlilfe sanctuaries in its lap. Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary Situated in the Banaskantha district, Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary is spanned in the area of 180 sq km. The Sanctuary is home to the rare wildlife species of Sloth Bears and rare species of flora and fauna. Located in the area of Aravali hills, Jessore hill is the second highest peak in Gujarat. A major watershed is located in this sanctuary and it is the main source of water for Sardar Sarovar and the Karjan reservoirs. The physical aspect of this region is dominated by the Rajpipla Hills. Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary 70 km away from Vadodara, Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary is a dense forest of bamboo, mahuda & teak trees, and lush vegetation. The leopard is the primary predator and its number is increasing year by year in this sanctuary. Other wildlife species of this sanctuary are wild boar, blue bull, jackal, hyena, barking deer, sloth bear and four-horned antelopes. Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary The Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary is home to the many wildlife species and 15 of them are considered endangered. The main species of this sanctuary are chinkara, and Indian gazelle. The animals live in very harsh environment where extreme heat, high winds, and frequent storms are the difficulties to survive.
