An update is confirmed by the Government of Canada regarding countries that no longer required immigration medical examination and also those which now requires a medical examination before applying for temporary resident visa. Getting an IME (Immigration Medical Examination) done, as per the update, required to be undertook depending on:
- Person’s country of resident at the time of application filing
- Person’s intended duration of stay in the country
The list of countries that need to submit IME includes Tunisia, Fiji, Singapore and Timor-Leste.
For the countries which has now been set free from the requirement of IME includes Argentina, Bahrain, Belize, Colombia, French Collectivity of Wallis and Futuna, Portugal, Seychelles, Surinam, Venezuela.
The update which came into light on 23rd November, 2017, is said to affect those:
- Agricultural workers that are coming from the listed countries as temporary residents
- Visitors who have applied to visit Canada for longer than 6 months’ time
- People who have spent consecutive 6 months in any of the listed country, before coming to Canada on a Visa or Permit.
The already submitted applications to Canada, before 23rd November, no IME is required from the residents of the listed countries that need to have IME, mandatorily. Source Link
