We need your support towards the mental health of street children. Those of us who live in India have grown used to seeing street children in rags, often under-nourished, and in poor health. But we scarcely think about their psychological state. All children need the security of parental care and emotional support. Living under physical and emotional stress can leave lasting scars on the mental health of children. At Salaam Baalak Trust, we have worked intensively with children of the street for over 25 years. We started by offering them food, then medical care, then shelter and education. Today, we house 400 children in 7 full-care shelter homes, and reach out to 7000 children every year. During our long and fulfilling journey, we have learned that caring for the mental health of children is absolutely critical if we want them to become healthy, fulfilled members of society. This work is hard, takes long, and requires the talent of skilled mental health practitioners. It also costs money. Please support our work with donations towards the mental health of street children. Because Minds Matter.
