How Education Can Change the Game for the Girls in Our Country? |
Posted: January 22, 2018 |
With every passing day, education is becoming an inevitable aspect of our lives. Right from job to basic lifestyle, education is required at every front. Even though education is important, still a large proportion of females in the country is illiterate. It is ironical that a country that is developing every day but it has illiterate women in its different geographies. Sadly, there is lesser concentration on education of the girl child. As per Census 2011, the female literacy rate is 65.46% and male literacy rate is 82.14%. The noticeable difference in the ratio compels us to inquire - what has gone wrong? There can be varied reasons behind this: 1. Early marriage - A lot of girls get married before the legal age of eighteen. This leaves almost no scope for education. Girls in rural sections are not exposed towards growing as a strong personality. They are expected to focus on getting married and bearing and rearing children. 2. Dropping from school - Even if a small ratio of girls manages to go to school, they drop out soon. Conservative families do not find any value in providing education to daughters. A lot of families don’t wish to spend money on education but rather marriage. 3. More focus towards household chores - Families in rural area believe more in honing household skills than reading and writing abilities. For a lot of people focus is home and it doesn’t matter if the girl fails to read a word. 4. Lack of ambition - The girls are usually brought up in such a manner that they don’t wish to pursue any education or career. They are molded to take care of household chores. Thus, they never make education as their goal. The main objective is to create a strong foundation for these girls. They need to understand that they have a huge value in the society and their presence can bring a lot of change in the world. Young girls should know that they can contribute in abundance to the society. This is where a staunch child education plan is needed. The goal is not about just enrolling them into schools but registering a fact in the girls’ mind that they need education to protect themselves and create a place for themselves in this world. When girls get education, they can bring revolution to their lives. This will also impact their environment and bring them lot of confidence. Considering that most of the families depend on their sons for day to day expenditures, girls can add to the same job. A family with working men and women can make a perceptible difference in their financial strata. Do you feel connected towards this cause?
