Renowned bike manufacturing company, Harley Davidson is planning to open a skills center known as Harley-Davidson University in India. The aim of this move would be to train its dealership staff members and employees. It will not only provide technical training but will also train people in areas like branding, finance, and management.
The American cult bike manufacturer already has three universities in Asia Pacific region and a fourth one will soon be opened in NCR. Peter MacKenzie, India and China MD of the company said that the US-based firm will continue to invest in resources and people in India. A newly opened university which is bound to get started in next few weeks in NCR is a prime example of it.
Confirming the fact that a wide variety of courses would be offered MacKenzie said that there would be a technical course and a number of courses that range from finance to management and branding. These latter courses fall under the non-technical category. MacKenzie did not elaborate on the number of faculty members or people who might be employed by the institute. Sharing Harley-Davidson’s long-term plans in India, MacKenzie said that it wants to become more relevant and more accessible.
In order to widen its reach in India, the company is expanding its dealer presence, shared MacKenzie. He added that great products are also being continually added as they enable current and future clients to remain engaged with the brand. It is also focusing on non-urban areas with an aim to acquire more customers.
MacKenzie also mentioned that Harley Davidson is constantly motivating its dealers to move to areas that have no brand representation and get started with things like pop-up stores in order to attract people’s interest and engage them.
