You can start with homemade pureed fruits and vegetable like screwed apple, mashed bananas which the baby can easily swallow. After he/she is comfortable, you can start with mashed soft cereals like rice, oats. Homemade food items are cheaper and healthier as compared to commercial baby food available in market, so try pureeing food items at home for your baby. Keep on adding new items gradually to the diet. Needless to say, keep the food bites as small as you can.
