When it comes to buying a washer and dryer, there is plenty to consider. While not as major a purchase as a home or a car, it can certainly feel that way as you are deciding which set fits your budget and the needs of your family. Like the purchase of a home or car, take the process one step at a time and you’ll find yourself with exactly what you need. There are a few things to think about before making your final decision.
Consider your budget first and foremost. A small budget means choosing a top-loading machine versus a front-loading machine, often not the best washing machine 2018. A standard front-loading washer is around $700, with a larger capacity model costing up to $1,800. A high-efficiency top-loading machine can cost anywhere from $500 to $1,200, for a larger capacity model. Front-loading machines cost less to maintain but more to repair than top-loading machines. You may have to sacrifice to meet other factors, such as the space in your home or the size of your family, but know your limit.
Know how much space you have in your home. There are newer models that stack on top of one another for narrow or tall spaces. Most are placed next to each other in a wider laundry space, but make sure that the washer and dryer that you purchase. Measure your laundry area before you head out to look at washers and dryers to make sure you choose the best set for your home. You may also consider an all-in-one set which utilizes the minimal space in a tiny house or apartment.
After measuring the space in your home, examine the space you need your set to have. Washers are rated in cubic feet, while 2 cubic feet is a few towels and a few pairs of paints and 6 cubic feet is typically 15 to 20 bath towels. For larger families, high capacity is a better option. There are washers that have features that pretreat stains, or an agitator or impeller that helps get clothes cleaner.
