Amidst a series of lockdowns due to COVID 19 and hiccups in conducting board exams, the students who wish to take admission in their course and institute of choice are very confused. Students are worried about the mode and schedule of competitive exams for which they are preparing. Several government and semi-government colleges/institutes have put their admission forms online on their website. Deemed universities and private institutes have also done the same thing. This blog will help the students to take admission in Pharmacy courses in various colleges this year i.e. 2020. Students prefer NBA approved and PCI affiliated colleges. Students can check the NBA approval status of any college on http://www.nba.ind.org. There are three different courses in pharmacy for which students seek admission. Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm), Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharm), and Master in Pharmacy (M. Pharm). Those who have completed Diploma in Pharmacy can take admission in B.Pharm second year (Lateral entry). There are basically TWO methods of getting admission into pharmacy courses run by private institutes or state government. They are:
Eligibility criteria for admission in D. Pharm, B. Pharm and M.Pharm For Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm): To be eligible for D. Pharmacy admission, candidates need to be 12th class pass outs from the state/central government boards as equivalent to 10+2 examination with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) and or Biology (PCB) or Computer science or Biotechnology as optional subjects individually with at least 50% marks. For First Year B.Pharmacy (B.Pharma) To be eligible for B.Pharmacy 1st year admission, candidates need to be 12th class pass outs from the state/central government boards as equivalent to 10+2 examination with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) and or Biology (PCB) or Computer science or Biotechnology as optional subjects individually with at least 50% marks. For Second Year B.Pharmacy (Lateral Entry) For Master in Pharmacy (M. Pharma) To be eligible for M. Pharmacy admission, candidates should be a pharmacy graduate from any recognized university with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. If a candidate wishes to take admission in any government college than he/she must have valid GPAT score card. A candidate can also take admission without GPAT score card in a PCI approved private college. Admission notification: Usually, the notification regarding admission process in the government pharmacy colleges are available in their websites from the month of May. Admission forms can be downloaded from the website and online form submission facility is provided with minimal charges. A date for entrance exam is mentioned normally for the month of June and selected candidates are able to take admission by the end of July month. In case, a student wants to choose private college for direct admission in any pharmacy course, then you can book their seat in advance as provisional admission.
